Hamilton dominated St. Mary's 73-15 in the season opener for both schools Thursday at Hamilton. The Huskies controlled the game from the outset while the Knights never seemed able to get anything going offensively.

St. Mary's was missing over a dozen players because of injuries and suspensions but the way Hamilton looked it probably didn't matter.

Hamilton led 17-0 after the first quarter and added another 28 in the second for a 45-9 halftime lead.

Senior quarterback Travis Dean played well, completing 8-of-12 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown pass. Dean also ran for two scores.

Senior running back Michael Allen had a big night for the Huskies, rushing for 129 yards on 10 carries with one touchdown. Senior Zach Bauman also had a strong night for the Huskies as he scored the first two touchdowns of the season for Hamilton.

St. Mary's struggled all night. It opened the game with a penalty and fumbled on its first play from scrimmage. The Knights continually stalled or turned the ball over giving Hamilton short fields in the first half.

Senior R.J. McGill and senior Josh Fulton were among the few bright spots for St. Mary's.

McGill had an 80-yard touchdown that put the Knights on the board in the second quarter.

Fulton did what he could defensively versus an impressive Hamilton offensive line led by junior right tackle Christian Westerman. Fulton also had a 19-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.

Hamilton travels west next week to face 5A2 runner-up Westview while St. Mary's will try to regroup against Sandra Day O'Connor at home.
