Senior Anthony Hughes started the scoring for Centennial in the first quarter with a 22-yard touchdown run. Hughes finished the night with three touchdowns. Chandler was without its top offensive weapon senior Taylor Walstad who is out with a knee injury. The Wolves scored to make the score 7-6 when junior Brett Hundley, who was split out at wide receiver for much of the first half, caught a backwards pass from senior Kyle Yount and then threw downfield to J.J. Lewis for a 32-yard touchdown pass. Centennial gave Chandler short fields a couple of times in the first half but the Wolves failed to convert those opportunities. The Coyote offensive line led by senior Nick Rowland opened holes all night for Hughes and his teammates. Quarterback Dain McFarland played well and capitalized on the chances he was given by the Wolves. McFarland threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Senior wide receiver Matt Baugh had a strong performance for the Coyotes, catching a long touchdown pass along with several tough receptions in traffic. Senior linebackers Austin Garday and Austin Arias stood out for a Centennial defense that forced multiple turnovers on the night. The play of the evening came when Centennial's Kyle Coffey stripped 6-foot-7 300 pound William Poehls, who was playing tailback, at the goalline and raced 97 yards for a touchdown. Chandler moved Brett Hundley from wide receiver to quarterback for most of the second half and he played well, rushing for one touchdown and throwing for two scores. Most of that came at the expense of Centennial's second-team defense. Senior Jeremy Morris had a strong night for Chandler playing well on offense, defense and special teams. Centennial hosts Willow Canyon next week. Chandler travels south to play Casa Grande.
