Tuba's Jamie Roe a sleeper prospect
The Arizona Preps Fall Showcase is annually known for uncovering many of the state's most unheralded and talented prospects.
This year was no different as one of the best discoveries from this year's event was Tuba City High School's 5-foot-11, 165-pound senior forward Jamie Roe.
After a strong junior season last year, Roe proved in this year's event that she is among the best sleeper prospects in the state.
"I didn't know much about her before the event, but I was very impressed with her play," said Fall Showcase Girl's Tournament Director Caroyln Jones.
Roe competes in the smaller 3A Division, but had a very good junior season last year while leading her team to a 21-8 overall record on the season, and a third place finish in the 3A's competitive North Region. Roe averaged impressive and well-rounded numbers last season - putting up 13.4 points, 7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 4.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per/game on the season.
Roe is definitely a big-time sleeper prospect in Arizona's senior class and will look to have an even bigger performance this season as she returns to lead her team in her final year.
Roe has a college-ready body already and has excellent size on her frame for the small forward position. She has broad and strong shoulders with a good base. She is a fundamentally sound prospect - capable of shooting the basketball with range, while also being able to handle and pass the basketball effectively for her size.
She is also a very good defender and plays with good intensity, while also being a strong rebounder that competes to gain good inside position.
Overall, she is a complete performer. As she improves her lateral quickness and agility she will see her game flourish over time, especially as she faces quicker players her size at the collegiate level.
Roe is what I like to call a glue-guy - a prospect that helps her team win and is a well-rounded performer. Players like Roe help you win, so I really like her potential for the next level and beleive that she is worthy of serious recruiting attention this spring.
Arizona Preps will be keeping a close eye on Roe this high school season, as she looks to take the Warriors as far as she can in her final high school season.
