Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain High School boys' basketball coach Todd Fazio is one of the state's most respected coaches. Commander King is the newly appointed head boy's basketball coach at Seton Catholic Prep in Chandler, Arizona. David Stark, head men's varsity basketball coach at (Tempe, Ariz.) Marcos de Niza High School is one of the longest tenured coaches in the state's large school divisions. Greg Haagsma moved to Arizona and began his coaching and teaching career at Valley Christian High School in 1991. He was the girls varsity coach for six years winning three 2A region titles and led his '92-'93 team to a final four appearance. Greg also coached baseball at VCHS from 1992 to 2003. Coach Michael Wirth became one of the youngest head coaches in the state of Iowa at the age of 23 in 1999. He led Armstrong-Ringsted High School (Armstrong, Iowa) to more wins in his first year than the previous two years combined. Coach Paul Long was named the head varsity coach at Tempe (Ariz.) High School this past summer. His coaching career began at Phoenix Trevor Browne High School where he served as an assistant coach for eight seasons under Mike Ellsworth. Dustin Cooper's basketball coaching career began as a varsity assistant at Sioux City East High School in Iowa during the 2004-2005 school year. From 2005-2009 he was the head JV and lead varsity assistant at Skyline High School in Mesa, Arizona. In 2010 Dustin was promoted to associate head varsity coach. Mark MacGowan's coaching career began in 1990 at his alma mater Paradise Valley (Ariz.) High School as a varsity assistant coach under Bill Farrell. Beginning his twenty-third year in coaching, coach Roger Lefebvre comes back to the Tolleson Union High School District as the head boy's basketball coach at La Joya Community High School - he had spent the prior two seasons at Peoria's Cactus High School, and before that he was the head coach at Tolleson. Coach Dave Glasgow is one of Arizona's most successful coaches. He had a very successful run at Coolidge High School from 1993 until 2004 winning state championships in 1998, 1999 and 2002. In 2004, Coach Glasgow took over the head position at Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Sammy Duane Jr.'s coaching career began as an assistant under his legendary father Sammy Sr. at Corona del Sol in 1990. Sammy was named the first head coach at newly-opened Mesquite High School in 1998. In 2004, he returned to Corona as the third head coach in school history. In 2012 his Aztecs won it all.
