PRESS RELEASE The 2011 All Arizona Combine-Showcase is scheduled for March 18th - 20th and will be held at American Sports Center (ASC) in Avondale Arizona. The ASC is a brand new facility with four full courts and has conference rooms to support our workshops. The event will be hosted by ArizonaVarsity.com and Southwest Showcase Events. Dick's Sporting Goods is the official sponsor. The Frosh-Soph Combine on Labor Day (2010) was a complete sell out at 200 players. We are expecting over 500 players to participate in this event as this will be for all high school classes.
Although we are expecting the top players for each class to attend, this event is geared for any basketball player that is interested in playing basketball in college. Our workshops will provide valuable information and is designed to educate both players and parents.
The All Arizona Combine - Showcase is the first of its kind in Arizona, and one of the first in the nation to not only evaluate players on the court, but to measure and evaluate key components from an athletic standpoint.
Football has been holding combines of this nature for years so that key measurements and skill evaluation can be added to a prospect's profile to better determine their college potential.
This showcase-combine will be the first of many (for all classes), and with the data gathered a more complete profile will be developed on Arizona players, which will provide a bigger and more complete picture for college coaches and recruiters.
This event will also be used for player ranking evaluations, along with info to be used in the Rivals.com national recruiting database and player features on ArizonaVarsity.com.
The Top 20 Academic Showcase Games will be held at this event. The teams are being selected at the All Arizona Academic Camp which is being held on March 6th in Gilbert Arizona. Check www.southwestshowcase.com for info. Our Academic Showcases have already opened up a whole new world for players and their families.
