Gridiron Arizona's 2025 Recruiting Update: 6/27
Wisconsin-River Falls offers Chandler offensive lineman Isaiah Garcia
UPDATED: 6/27/24
Colleges across the nation continue to take notice of the prep talent in Arizona each season. More than 430 players from the Class of 2024 have signed with schools to advance their football careers, and receive an education.
Game times listed are in Arizona time.
June 24th marked the beginning of a Dead Period. During this time, it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts on or off of college campuses. There is also a break from official and unofficial visits, which are not allowed. This period will last through July 24.
Chandler offensive guard Isaiah Garcia received his third offer last Friday and it came from Wisconsin-River Falls. He was named to the Second Team All-6A Premier Region last season. During June, Garcia (6-1, 280) competed in an individual camp at Western New Mexico and also took part in Big Man challenges at Arizona State and Northern Arizona with his CHS teammates. In the annual Lindy's Sports magazine, Wisconsin-River Falls is ranked at No. 22 in the preseason for Division III. The Falcons went 7-3 last year for its third straight winning season. This year's opener is on Sept. 7 at Alma (Mich.), which is ranked No. 19 in the same poll.
Skipping our usual list for the week of new offers as we're having a problem with the new Rivals layout in terms of spaces (it isn't putting any). However, we can say that we have 87 new players offered this week (offers down below) that are in the list bringing our toteboard to 281 seniors with offers and 26 commitments.
This list shows four-year college offers received by juniors throughout the state. It's not limited to just 6A and 5A. It will be constantly updated as we approach the Early Signing Period on December 4-6. Those will be the first days that high school seniors can sign a letter of intent to agree to attend an institution.
Verbal commitments are shown in bold.

Marana WR Dezmen Roebuck commits to Washington
UPDATED: 6/27/24
Marana wide receiver Dezmen Roebuck has been catching varsity passes since his freshman season with the Tigers - 257 in all. It was just a month after that freshman campaign that Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch offered a scholarship to Roebuck for his hometown school.
Despite moving to Washington, following last season, Fisch kept the recruitment going with the 5-10, 160-pound receiver. Following an official visit to Seattle, Roebuck committed to the Huskies last Sunday.
"It was mainly just the staff," Roebuck said in a text message about what swayed him. "They recruited me as a freshman when they were at Arizona."
Roebuck went over 1,000 yards for the second straight season last year, going for 1,332 on a state-record 121 receptions. With a full senior year still to go, Roebuck is just 26 catches away from surpassing Brandon Phelps (ALA-Gilbert North) as the career leader.
At Marana, he doesn't just play on offense. Roebuck made 48 tackles and intercepted four pases in 2023.
Not only will this be Year 1 for Fisch at Washington, it will be the Huskies' first in the Big Ten. The Huskies, last year's Pac-12 champions, will entertain Weber State (Utah) in their home opener on Aug. 31. The Big Ten Network will have the game at 8 p.m. After winning the Pac-12 last year, Washington defeated Texas in the Sugar Bowl and played for the National Championship in Houston. In a magical season, Washington (14-1) rode a 21-game winning streak into the title game.
The Arizona Wildcats have landed their third in-state commitment for this class and it's defensive tackle Kaleb Jones from Mountain Pointe.
The 6-1, 275-pound lineman began his varsity career with the Pride on the offensive line for two years before moving over to defense last season. He managed the transition well, compiling 45 tackles and 7.5 sacks. He made First Team All-6A Central Region on the DL a year after garnering First Team honors on the OL.
Jones received his offer from Arizona in January of 2023 (following his sophomore season). He went down to Tucson for a Game Day visit for the Northern Arizona game last September and then took his official on June 14.
"It's a winning program all around," Jones said in a text message. "I love the coaches. I can definitely fit in with the team."
Jones said the Wildcats are recruiting him to play on the D-Line.
Arizona opens its season on Aug. 31 with the first of seven home games against New Mexico. It will be Sports Hall of Fame night with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and a national audience on ESPN. The Wildcats finished 10-3 last season and defeated Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl. The first of the new Big 12 Opponents to visit Tucson will be Texas Tech on Oct. 5.
In between the Wildcats' first commitment (Higley's Luke Haugo) and Jones' pledge, Arizona improved its class as Dajon Hinton flipped his verbal from Arizona State to the Wildcats.
Hinton, a 5-11, 180-pound cornerback and wide receiver has recently transferred from Saguaro to Hamilton. He will be the third from his family to wear the Red & Blue. Dajon's father, David, played for the Wildcats and his older brother, DJ, was a walk-on at wide receiver in 2017.
It was after an official visit to Tucson that Hinton decided to reopen his recruitment. He missed his junior year at Saguaro due to an injury. In 2022, Hinton caught 25 passes for 457 yards and three touchdowns for a Sabercat team that made the Open Division finals.
David Cabrera earned the title of "fastest man in the state" by taking the 100 meters at the Open Division State meet. He also ran a leg (with three other Desert Edge football players) on the 4x100 relay team that ran a 40.99 to take first place in the finals.
The wide receiver started his high school career at West Point before transferring to Desert Edge. He committed to Eastern Washington on Wednesday, selecting the Eagles over other Division I offers from San Diego State, Idaho, and Northern Arizona.
"They have an awesome staff," Cabrera said of EWU in a text message. "My family and I built a bond with every coach fast. They care about education just as much as football and that is the most important thing to my family and me. They have a great history at my position and in developing players. They have a great offense that I want to be a part of."
Eastern Washington opens its season on Thursday, Aug. 29 against Monmouth (N.J.) at home in Cheney. The Eagles (4-7 last season) play in the Big Sky Conference (FCS). EWU will finish its schedule in Flagstaff against Northern Arizona on Nov. 23.
In two years as Highland's starting quarterback, Kalen Fisher has won a 6A title and taken his team to the Open Division playoffs. Prior to heading into his third year at the controls of the Hawks' offense, he has made his college commitment.
The 6-4, 225-pound signal caller will be attending school and playing football at Central Michigan University. Fisher announced it on social media on Thursday.
He set up his first visit to CMU back in April and went on it last weekend. He chose the Chippewas over offers from Arizona, Boston College, Colorado State, and San Diego State.
Last year, Fisher passed for 2,046 yards and 15 touchdowns. He's fired up for another playoff run after getting Highland to the championship game at Northern Arizona's 7-on-7 tournament earlier this month. Fisher was making connections to Kash Allen, Hayden Daugherty, Gavin Priest, Greg Toler Jr., and Max Brown.
Central Michigan will hit the road for a pair of non-conference games in September. The Chippewas will face Florida International in Miami on Sept. 7 and enter Big Ten country the following week with a trip to Illinois. Mid-American Conference play begins on Sept. 21. The Chippewas were 5-7 last season.
