Gilbert High's moms group will hold a fund-raiser Dec. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the student parking lot, selling pork shoulder roasts (8 to 10 pounds) at a cost of $35 to $40, Athletic Director Dan Haasch said.
The money will go to sophomore center Truman Moore's family. Moore's father, Roger Dell Moore, died from a massive heart attack Tuesday morning at age 44. He worked as a plumber, and apparently didn't have life insurance. Haasch said the family, which moved from Prescott over the summer, is financially strapped.
Truman's mother graduated from Gilbert. Truman was new to the Gilbert community. The family wanted to be closer to work and has a good support system in the community and through their church. Truman is one of three children in the household.

Orders can be placed for the pork roasts through Gilbert Tigers Basketball parents or coaches. They need to be placed and paid for by Wednesday at 8 p.m. For more questions, call Gilbert basketball mom Anjie Miller at 480-285-9700 or Kellie Lowell (another Gilbert mom) at 480-390-7360 or head coach Jay Caserio at 480-293-4175.

Haasch said cash or check payments should be made payable to Anjie Miller.
