Since AV is wanting some "cowbell" I thought I would open up some discussion. This is my super 12 rankings in my humble opinion.

AV.....my schedule permitting I am going to do my best to see as many different games as I can as the season moves forward and give a summary. Amazed that some squads have already played 15 plus games........

1. Phoenix St. Mary's (8-0)

The season will be kicking into high gear for the Knights as the TOC will define them nationally as they defend their crown. Williams sisters (not Venus/Serena) causing havoc defensively, Ekmark scoring from everywhere, and 3 other D-1 commits causes nightmares for in state comp. Should not look past a 1/7/13 matchup with Hamilton in a State title rematch & Pinnacle was the last AZ team to beat them (GAME ON 1/21 @ MLK Classic).

2. Phoenix Pinnacle (15-0)

New coach who is not unfamiliar to this roster. Like St. Mary's, his daughter is the top player here. Sydney Wiese has made her bid for POY honors so far this season leading her squad to a HIghland Thanksgiving Tournament Championship. Pioneer "big 3" of Wiese, Britta Nordstrom & Kenna McDavis is formidable. Depth is showing up early this year. Last AZ team to beat the defending National Champs.

3. Avondale Westview (15-0)

Four players averaging double figures in points with a fifth almost joining the party. This team has played together for sometime now. The upstarts from the west valley may not have played the schedule that others ranked here have but can not be ignored. Largest point differential in the state. A team on the rise. Five of top six scores are non seniors.

4. Phoenix Mountain Pointe (12-1)

Runner Up at the Highland Tournament which included several impressive wins including a win over the host school. Caitlyn Hetrick & Kaylah Lupoe have been fantastic for the Pride so far this season. Playing at a high level early in the year.

5. Gilbert Highland (12-1)

As always with the Hawks the sum is greater than the individual parts. Only set back was to Mountain Pointe. Impressive close win over Mesa Dobson lands them here. Find me a better coach anywhere than Miner Webster. Las Vegas event will after the hoilday always has the Highland ready for battle after the new year.

6. Mesa Dobson (7-2)

Only in state loss was to Highland in the tip off classic. 3-1 showing at the La Jolla Country Day Sweet 16 tournament and runner up finish adds to the resume. Coach Tyler Dumas has won more games than most in the last 4 years. University of San Diego commit Katherine Hamilton is a dynamic performer who can take a game over.

7. Chandler Seton Catholic (11-2)

The beat goes on....They are the class of division 2 until someone beats them. Karen Self and her staff are top flight and if I am starting a team tomorrow I want 5'8 Sr. guard Anne Marie Holter on it along with her 3 rings. Junior Julia Barcello is terrific too. Only losses to Pinnacle & Highland. Handed Chandler Hamilton their only loss.

8. Chandler Hamilton (11-1)

The athlete factory is not limited to girls basketball at the states largest school. Coach Jeff Kain and his crew continue to produce outstanding teams and this years team could end up back in the final four. A five point loss to Seton at Highland event was only set back. Kyndal Adams & Aliyah Dickson lead the way. Junior Ashlee Moore is one of the top athletes in the state.

9. Mesa Mountain View (7-4)

Four losses? Well only one was to an in state opponent. After being done in at Tolleson & Shay Heredia, the Toros went to the La Jolla Sweet 16 event and went 1-3.....things are start to turn for this young squad who are missing two D-1 commits. Super Sophs Armami Hawkins & Sabrina Haines are picking up the slack.

10. Tucson (12-0)

The Badgers have always been solid but a storm is brewing down south. Freshman Phenom Alexis Cortez has been ready for prime time for the last two years and should only get better. Feeder program has more coming.

11. Sierra Vista Buena (11-1)

Only loss to date to Tucson on 11/24 at the Boyd Baker Tournament. One-two punch of Denesia Smith & Nidja Thomas are lethal and should rack up wins down south. This squad should not be under estimated.

12. Phoenix Xavier College Preps (8-3)

May not have a victory of note but they have Katie Werner. The Yale commit is a leading candidate for POY honors averaging 30 plus points and 10 plus rebounds. Third coach in three years does not alter her skill set or natural born leader attributes. Two losses to Mountian Pointe & the other to Mountain View....

Just missed......Goodyear Millennium (9-0)

I would say the only big movers (up) on this Super 12 would be Hamilton.  They played very well in the TOC. Payton Whitmore is playing very well as a frosh.  She is not afraid to make big plays.  Good things happen when she is on the floor.  Aliyah Dickson is probably the top unsigned senior in the state.  She is playing at a high level right now and has some very good leadership skills.  Idaho State commit Kendhall Adams quietly does her thing on the floor.  She has a solid mid-range game.

Buena is missing one of their top players (Carpenter) with an ankle injury.  She should be close to returning.  Combo guard Smith has had a very good junior season so far.  She can play  the 1, 2 or 3 positions.  Very smooth and her shooting has dramatically improved over her soph season.

Very good showing in the TOC for St Mary's even though they lost their first game in a couple of years.  Don't miss the Jan 7th matchup with Hamilton.  Must see basketball.

Tucson lost their first game in the Flowing Wells tournament to the Flowing Wells team that is led by super senior Lyndsay Leikem who is headed to Indiana.  Expect the Badgers to be good for quite some time as Cortez is only a frosh and soph CG Bailey Johnson is highly regarded for the 2015 class.

Mesa Mountain View continues to figure out how to pull out victories even with two Division 1 starters out.  Jenson is out for the season and I am not for sure how long Coggins will be out. Losing junior Christine Miller for the year also hurt.  Junior Cherokee Davis has been a pleasant addition to the Toros.  Haines and Hawkins have been producing as expected.  Two very special players. Two big games coming up with Chandler and Desert Vista.
