Colleges across the nation continue to take notice of the prep talent in Arizona each season. More than 380 players from the Class of 2022 have signed with schools to advance their football careers, and receive an education.

On Thursday, Oregon State extended an offer to O'Connor defensive end Ryan Davis. He now has 11 offers, including Power Five ones from Kansas State and Washington State. Davis is a 6-4, 240-pound edge that has the ability to shed blockers and cause havoc. He's a two-year starter and had 6.5 sacks for the Eagles last season. Davis had a busy June competing at Northern Arizona's Mega Camp and then going on unofficial visits to USC, San Diego State, Boise State, Washington State, and Kansas State. Oregon State opens the 2022 season on Sept. 3 when it hosts Boise State at Reser Stadium. ESPN will have the national broadcast at 7:30 p.m. The Beavers are coming off a 7-6 season and their first bowl appearance (LA Bowl) since 2013. OSU went a perfect 6-0 in Corvalllis last year.

A teammate of Davis at O'Connor, Blake Ware, hauled in an offer from one of the top Division III programs in the nation on Friday. It came from Central College in Iowa after a conversation with defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Mitch Shepherd. Ware has been spending a lot of time in the weight room this summer and recently benched 315 pounds and squatted 495 to post new maxes at both lifts. The 5-9, 195-pound linebacker is entering his third year as a starter and posted 85 tackles last year to go with a pair of interceptions. Central College enters 2022 riding a 17-game regular season winning streak and is the defending American Rivers Conference champion. The Dutch will play six of its 10 scheduled games at home starting with one against St. Olaf (Minn.) on Sept. 3. Last year, Central defeated the Oles, 46-27. Head coach Jeff McMartin is 140-43 in his 18 seasons. Central finished 12-1 and made the quarterfinals in 2021.

Lewis & Clark College in Portland had a busy week recruiting the state. On Thursday, three more from Arizona received offers from the Pioneers. They were Doran Wetzel, Briton Stanton, and Sydney Lane. Wetzel is a 6-1, 190-pound linebacker at Ironwood. In his first year as a starter, he had 66 tackles and forced three fumbles for the Eagles. Wetzel possesses a long, athletic frame. Stanton is a 5-10, 190-pound wide receiver at Williams Field. He saw limited action last year for the Black Hawks (five games), but should have more opportunities this fall on a team that graduated its top two receivers. Stanton put in work at the camps at Drake, Montana State, and Northern State after spring ball was over. Lane is a 6-3, 225-pound defensive tackle at Moon Valley. A captain, he played in just four games for the Rockets last season due to some health issues. Lane competed in the Lake Forest College satellite camp at Pinnacle HS back in May. Lewis & Clark will have a new head football coach this season as Jay Locey has retired. Assistant Joe Bushman was named as his replacement. He was the offensive coordinator in 2021 when Lewis & Clark averaged 29 points and threw for 2,260 yards in a 3-6 season. The Pioneers play in the Northwest Conference (Div. III) and open at home on Sept. 3 against Puget Sound (Wash.).

Arizona College Prep running back Biruk Stephens collected his second offer in less than a month. The latest one came on Friday from Crown College in Minnesota. Stephens was part of a two-back attack for the Knights and rushed for 424 yards in nine games. Away from football, he is also a wrestler and handles his business in the classroom as well (4.36 GPA). After battling some injuries during his junior year, he's healthy and putting in the work for his senior campaign at ACP. Crown finished 1-9 last season. The Storm were a very young team (three seniors) and will look to build off head coach Anthony Franz's first season at the helm. Crown recruited the state well last winter. A total of six players from State 48 signed with the Storm, which plays in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (Div. III).

This list shows four-year college offers received by juniors throughout the state. It's not limited to just 6A and 5A. It will be constantly updated as we approach the Early Signing Period from December 14-16. Those are the first days that high school seniors can sign a letter of intent to agree to attend an institution.

Red Mountain wide receiver/running back Lenox Lawson will take the field for the Lions for the last time this fall already knowing where his next destination will be. On Friday, Lawson decided that Central Michigan University will be his college home.

The 5-11, 175-pound athlete took his official visit to Mount Pleasant the first weekend of June. He received his offer from CMU in April.

Lawson had a big season for Red Mountain leading the team in rushing (819 yards) and finishing second on the Lions in receiving (577 yards). He scored 15 total touchdowns.

In addition to his offer from CMU, Lawson also held them from Washington State, New Mexico State and seven FCS school, including Southern Utah. Lenox's older brother, Lance, plays wide receiver at SUU.

Red Mountain held a combine for its athletes a couple weeks ago and Lawson burned a 4.47 time in the 40-yard dash on the RMHS turf. He is the second from the state to commit to CMU (Ryan Blum - Basha). Central Michigan returns Dallas Dixon, a Tolleson alum. Dixon caught a pass in every game for the Chippewas and finished with 701 yards and eight touchdowns in his junior year.

Dixon is one of 10 Central Michigan players named by Athlon Sports to its Preseason All-Mid-American Conference Team. He was named to the Second Team. CMU defeated Washington State last December in the Sun Bowl in El Paso. The Chippewas were 9-4 and posted their highest win total since 2009. Central Michigan opens on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Oklahoma State. The game will kick off at 4 p.m. on FS1. It's one of six games that will have national television coverage. CMU gets involved in the midweek MACtion during each of the first three Wednesdays of November (at Northern Illinois, vs. Buffalo, vs. Western Michigan) for those craving more college football.
