5A
No. 1 Paradise Valley (9-0) @ Horizon (5-4)
Paradise Valley had a huge win over Kofa last week 63-21, but that win also came with a huge loss when their superstar RB Matt Clapp was injured. Now its up to RB Aazaad Muhammad, and junior RB Tamarcus Jordan to fill in Clapp’s shoes.
Prediction: Paradise Valley 35, Horizon 14
No. 2 Westwood (9-0) @ No. 4 Red Mountain (8-1)
Tonight! This is just one of the huge games going on this week. Both of these teams have a lot of speed and talent. Red Mountain's RB Channing Trotter will get a chance to play against his former team. Trotter has been a key player on both sides of the ball for Red Mountain.
Prediction: Westwood 14, Red Mountain 10
No. 3 Hamilton (8-1) vs. No. 5 Chandler (8-1)
The 5A Game of the week. Bragging rights are on the line as both of these rival schools come into this game with only one loss, which was caused by the same team - Highland. The winner of this game will get a lot of power points. Last week Chandler was upset by Highland and Hamilton most likely ended Gilbert's playoffs dreams by beating them in a close game 10-7.
Prediction: Hamilton 21, Chandler 17
No. 6 Brophy (8-1) @ North Canyon (4-5)
Brophy goes into this last week with only one loss to Paradise Valley. They have proven to be a strong team that can complete with the best.
Prediction: Brophy 27, North Canyon 10
No. 7 Highland (6-3) @ Casa Grande (1-8)
Highland is on fire right now and two teams that were in their path of destruction were former unbeaten teams Hamilton and Chandler. The Hawks catch a break this week as they head to Casa Grande. Leading the way for Highland in their standout TE Shaun Fitzpatrick who has 35 receptions for 375 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Prediction: Highland 42, Casa Grande 6
No. 8 Corona del Sol (7-2) @ Desert Vista (5-4)
Corona's QB Blaise Johnson is leading the way for the Aztecs as they go head-to-head with Desert Vista for the Central Region championship this Friday.
Prediction: Corona Del Sol 28, Desert Vista 14
No. 9 Mesa Mountain View (6-3) vs. Mesa (3-6)
Mt. View lost in a close game to No. 2 Westwood 9-7, but they should recover nicely with a win over their rival Mesa.
Prediction: Mt. View 38, Mesa 13
No. 10 Peoria (8-1) vs. Ironwood (5-4)
Peoria killed Kingman last week scoring 62 point on them. A lot of focus has been on Peoria's offensive because of their talented running backs Keegan Herring and Markus Turner. But, on the defensive side, they have standout defensive lineman Jake Robinson who has a total of 43 tackles and 6 sacks coming into this week's game.
Prediction: Peoria 38, Ironwood 7
No. 10t Maryvale (7-2) vs. Mt. Ridge (5-4)
Mt. Ridge has had rough season, losing their two star players Tim Ham and Nick Covey to injuries. Maryvale is looking to capture the Northwest Region championship with a win this week.
Prediction: Maryvale 28, Mt. Ridge 17
4A
No. 1 Sunnyside (9-0) vs. Santa Rita (3-7)
Even without Xavier Smith playing last week against Rincon, Sunnyside beat up on the Rangers 42-6. Sunnyside QB Jamie Cota seems to have found his favorite receiver in George Garza who has 22 receptions for 457 yards and 5 touchdowns. Santa Rita's RB Jacob Morell comes into this game leading Southern Arizona in rushing with 1,914 yards.
Prediction: Sunnyside 49, Santa Rita 7
No. 2 Centennial (9-0) @ No. 4 Cactus (9-0)
The 4A Game of the Week. Both of these rival teams come into this game undefeated and ready to battle it out for the Wells Fargo Region championship. This is the game Centennial and Cactus fans have waited for all season long.
Prediction: Centennial 23, Cactus 14
No. 3 Moon Valley (9-0) @ Thunderbird (6-3)
Moon Valley clinched the Skyline Region championship last week when they beat McClintock 48-21. The real competition starts next week for them, but first they have to get through Thunderbird. They have one of the best defensive ends in the state, Dexter Davis.
Prediction: Moon Valley 35, Thunderbird 10
No. 5 Flagstaff (9-0) @ Coconino (7-2)
Flagstaff has only had 12 points scored on the all season. They have been the surprise team up north and their big offensive line is anchored by Fresno State commit Joe Bernardi.
Prediction: Flagstaff 21, Coconino 6
No. 6 Saguaro (8-1) @ Tempe (6-3)
Saguaro has already clinched their region, but they want to rack up more power points. Last week they had a scare against Coronado, winning 17-14. They shouldn't have much of a problem this week.
Prediction: Saguaro 24, Tempe 14
No. 7 Chaparral (7-3) @ Arcadia (4-5)
Ron Estabrook won his 100th game against Desert Ridge 55-6. Despite the loss of Ekom Udofia, Chaparral's defense is solid and should have no problem shutting down Arcadia.
Prediction: Chaparral 38, Arcadia 3
No. 8 Ironwood Ridge (7-2) vs. Rincon (7-2)
Both these teams will battle it out for second place in the Sonoran region.
Prediction: IRHS 28, Rincon 17
No. 9 Independence (8-2) vs. Cortez (3-6)
Independence's defense has been stepping up this year with linebackers Michael Reyna and Dustin Wicktor recording 5 sacks each.
Prediction: Independence 28, Cortez 3
No. 10 Sabino (7-2) vs. Palo Verde (4-5)
Sabino was upset last week by a disappointing Catalina Foothills team. Sabino needs to wake up before they lose the chance to advance to the playoffs. A win this week will secure their spot in the playoffs.
