The STATE FORTY EIGHT Power 48 Rankings: 8/22/2016

Each week I'll release my top 48 teams in the state, regardless of division. The idea was inspired by the guys at STATE FORTY EIGHT, an Arizona-inspired clothing brand whose success has given Arizonans yet another thing to be proud of. Zero week has come and gone, but there isn't a ton of movement from last week's Power 48, considering several teams have yet to play a game this season. Mountain Pointe came close to dethroning Desert Ridge as the preseason #1 with their impressive win over O'Connor, while Desert Edge nearly leapfrogged Hamilton at #4 with a win over Centennial, but Hamilton's shutout of Boulder Creek was too hard to ignore. This week's biggest leaps belong to Westview, Queen Creek, Ironwood Ridge and Mesquite, who went from being unranked to the #33 spot on the list. Falling 17 spots was Mesa, who lost to Mesquite 22-3. Boulder Creek falls off the list, as does Gilbert, who goes from #46 to the first team left off. Making their debut on the Power 48 in addition to Mesquite, is Notre Dame Prep at #47.
