ArizonaVarsity is proud to feature weekly articles from our Valley's own Tom Kuyper.

It all began in 1991 when Tom Kuyper, an ASU graduate and basketball star, set out to fulfill his lifelong dream of working and impacting children. A parent asked Tom to take some local students and put together a basketball camp, so the summer of 1991 the first Tom Kuyper basketball camp was born. Ten students, 100 degrees, and a church parking lot started what we know today as Athletes In Training.

Since then Tom has developed youth programs, and he is featured weekly in the Arizona Republic, and his "Kids and Sports" featured on sports talk radio XTRA Sports 910AM.

Tom will be providing our readers his unique perspective on youth sports, and how to best prepare student-athletes for the competitive environment.
