Grand Canyon State Games are coming!

The Sixteenth Annual Fulton Homes Grand Canyon State Winter Games Presented by APS, already the nation's largest amateur Winter Sports Festival, has expanded to 42 sports. The games will take place all across the state of Arizona from January thru April. Athletes of all ages and abilities are eligible to compete.
Events include: Adventure Racing, Archery Arm Wrestling, Baseball, Basketball, Baton Twirling, Bowling, Curling, Dodgeball, Equestrian, 4 v 4 Flag Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, In-Line Hockey, Jump Rope, Karate, Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing, Shooting, Skateboarding, Skiing / Snowboarding, Squash, Soccer, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track & Field, Indoor / Outdoor Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wrestling

Get Up! Get Active! Get Involved! "This is a family affair," said Erik Widmark, Executive Director of the Games. "This is a great way for the whole family to compete in an Olympic style atmosphere."
In 2008, the Grand Canyon State Games will offer three additional sport competitions; the International Summer Games, June 19-22, 2008, the Lori Piestewa National Native American Games held in the Greater Fountain Hills area, July 17-20, 2008 and the State Games of the West held July 24-27, 2008 in Colorado Springs, CO.
As always, athletes of all ages and ability lefvels are eligible to compete. The top finisher in the Winter Games in each division will be awarded free entry into the International Summer Games held June 19-22, 2008. ALL Competitors qualify for the State Games of the West Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 24-27, 2008. Eight thousand athletes from thirteen Western States, competing for State pride and medals, are expected at venues such as the US Air Force Academy, and the US Olympic Training Center.
